My heart and soul are yearning in this present time for simplicity and deep, authentic community. Consumption, greed and the voices of hatred and oppression that seek to divide and isolate ring out obnoxiously loud and are cloaked in self righteousness that stems from fear.
In the midst of this chaos, I crave long, slow walks in the woods where the thin rays of the sun extend through the bare boughs of trees illuminating dark areas of the previously green and abundant forest. I long for real, raw conversation with laughter, tears and prayer with tea. My heart leaps with delight at the opportunity to create absurdity and joy with spontaneous dancing, drumming and singing parties. Celebrating life!! I strive to create spaces large enough in our yoga practice that can contain and hold anger, grief, compassion, gratitude, curiosity and kindness. Acceptance. Invitation. Show up as you are, not as you think you should be.
I have hope that even though voices of truth, peace, connection and love seem to be in the minority that they are present. Yes! You! You are heard. You are courageous for choosing love over fear! For choosing to engage in building community and walking your walk.
I am also grateful in the midst of chaos and consumption that I am here today with my one wild and precious life. That I have been given the gift of my life, this day, this breath. It is such a privilege and a wild and wonderful thing to be alive on this planet. I thank God everyday for the privilege of being here and ask always for support for Showing up and serving.
In the midst of the chaos of the world, I can connect here to God who is as close as breath, to the awareness of the gift of life, to the blessed communities that I am so grateful to have found acceptance, absurdity, creativity, self expression and grace.
